The trend of garden gyms is on the rise, and for good reason. Working out in the comfort of your own home offers both convenience and privacy. One increasingly popular option is to create a garden gym within a bespoke garden room. This space provides a serene and inspiring environment for your workouts, while also adding value to your property.

The Benefits of a Garden Gym

A garden room gym offers numerous advantages over a traditional gym. Firstly, it provides a private and convenient workout space. No more dealing with crowded gyms, long journeys or fitting in workouts around your busy schedule. Second, exercising outdoors or in a natural setting has many benefits and can have a positive impact on both your physical and mental well-being. The fresh air, sunlight, and greenery can help reduce stress and improve your mood.

Finally, a garden gym allows you to customise your workout space to your exact preferences. You can choose the equipment, decor, and ambience that best suits your needs and style. This level of personalisation can make your workouts more enjoyable and motivating.

Design Elements for Your Garden Gym

When designing your garden room gym, there are several key elements to consider:

  • Space Utilisation: Efficiently utilise the available space in your garden room. Consider the size and frequency of use of different gym equipment to determine the best layout. You can also add internal walls to any of our bespoke garden rooms to create multi-room buildings, this could be for a shower room or additional storage space for exercise equipment.
  • Lighting: Adequate lighting is essential for both safety and visibility during your workouts. Natural lighting, such as windows or skylights, can create a bright and airy atmosphere. For evening workouts, consider installing artificial lighting, such as LED strips, to provide sufficient illumination.
  • Ventilation: Proper ventilation is crucial to maintain a comfortable and healthy workout environment. Ensure that your garden room has adequate ventilation, such as windows or doors that can be opened or fans. At London Timber Buildings, we offer both Aluminium and uPVC doors and windows, in a variety of sizes, styles and colours available.
  • Flooring: The flooring material in your garden gym should be durable, safe, and easy to clean. We offer a range of flooring options, including laminate flooring with underlay and skirting. Pick from four shades that match various interior aesthetics, including Grey Oak and Light Hickory.
  • Mirrors: Mirrors can be a valuable addition to your garden room gym as they allow you to monitor your form and posture during exercises.
  • Storage: Keep your gym equipment organised and clutter-free with ample storage space. Consider using shelves, racks, or cabinets to store weights, dumbbells, and other equipment. Take a look at our blog on clever storage solutions for garden rooms and log cabins.

External Design Options

Our garden rooms are crafted with high-quality timber, offering a durable and sustainable foundation. As standard, they feature 21mm Grade A Larch or Thermowood cladding, providing a natural and attractive finish. For a more modern or low-maintenance option, you can upgrade to Composite cladding or K-Render, both of which are available in a wide range of colours to suit your style. These premium cladding options offer minimal maintenance and can be fitted horizontally or vertically to create your desired aesthetic.

Your garden room price includes approximately 500mm of decking to the front of the building, mirroring your roof overhang. This provides a seamless transition between your indoor and outdoor workout spaces and is ideal for enjoying summer workouts in the fresh air.

  • For garden rooms clad in wood, the included decking is our standard timber option.
  • On composite-clad buildings, the standard composite decking is used. However, upgrades are available, and we are also able to add additional decking around your building, should it be required.

This decking can be used for various outdoor activities, such as yoga, and lightweight training, or even as an additional space for your exercise bike in the summer. It also provides a comfortable space for relaxing and enjoying the outdoors.

Incorporating Personal Touches

To make your garden gym truly your own, consider adding personal touches to the decor. Plants, artwork, or motivational quotes can create a motivating and inspiring environment. Incorporate technology, such as a TV or sound system, to enhance your workout experience.

Creating a garden gym within a bespoke garden room is a fantastic way to transform your outdoor space into a personalised workout haven. By carefully considering the design elements above, you can create a functional, stylish, and inspiring space that will motivate you to reach your fitness goals.
